FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are the answers to some of the more common questions you may have about driving lessons.

Q: How do I know that you are a fully qualified driving instructor?
A: My Approved Driving Instructors badge is shown in the windscreen of my car.

Q: Will you personally be my driving instructor for all of my lessons?
A: Yes. You will receive my full attention!

Q: Will I get a full hour of tuition?
A: Yes, I will pick you up at the time that we have arranged and you will have a full hour of one-to-one tuition or whatever time period you may have booked.

Q: Can I book a two-hour lesson?
A: Yes, 2 hour lessons can be booked - tuition costs are by the hour. Your first lesson will be for two hour automatically. After that it’s up to you.

Q: Is there anything I need to bring with me on my first lesson?
A: Yes. I need to see your Provisional Driving Licence (both Parts) at the start of your first lesson.

Q: How many lessons will I need?
A: There is no set number. However, the good people at the DSA use a formula to estimate how many lessons you might need, based on your age (your age x 1.5). Remember it’s just a rough guide and and is not a specific figure of how many lessons YOU will need before you can rip up those L plates!

Q: When can I book my Theory and Practical Driving Tests?
A: I will advise you when to apply for your theory, hazard perception and practical driving tests, taking into account local waiting times and forecast of your potential for achieving the driving test pass standard. To confirm that you are ready for your theory test I would also recommend using mock tests to ensure you are up to standard. When you are ready, you will need to book the official tests through the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) on:
